Mission Statement

The staff, parents, and community of Flamingo Elementary School are dedicated to providing a nurturing, comfortable, and supportive environment where we uphold high standards and expectations and where each student is challenged to reach his or her full potential.

Flamingo's History

Flamingo Elementary School is an elementary school which is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The school was built in 1955 over a swamp, while the city of Hialeah was still growing. It was named South Hialeah Elementary for several years until its name was changed to Flamingo Elementary. The school is an A school, and has been given many grants by large corporations for achievements in education. The school is the only school in the county to have a class which does all coursework on the computer. It is also one of the only two NASA Explorer Schools in the state.
