Flamingo's Vision and Mission Statement

Vision Statement

Our school vision is to focus on each student and maximize his/her fullest potential. While achievements of excellence are celebrated, so are achievements which represent a student's personal best.

Mission Statement

The staff, parents and community of Flamingo Elementary are dedicated to providing a nurturing, comfortable and supportive environment for our students. High standards and expectations are in place to help each student be challenged to reach his/her full potential.

Flamingo's History

Flamingo Elementary School is an elementary school which is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The school was built in 1955 over a swamp, while the city of Hialeah was still growing. It was named South Hialeah Elementary for several until its name was changed to Flamingo Elementary. The school is an A school, and has been given many grants by large corporations for achievements in education. The school is the only school in the county to have a class which does all coursework on the computer. It is also one of the only two NASA Explorer Schools in the state.
