The Flamingo Staff has put in hours of training and is committed to
using technology with our wonderful students, who love using our
computers!
Flamingo Elementary School will develop the use of technology as a
life-long learning tool to communicate, to explore, and to
manipulate data.
Students are introduced to every objective on their grade level of
the Miami-Dade Technology Curriculum. Every student spends
instructional time on the computer every week.
Our teachers have been trained in Technology . Continuous training
is offered throughout the year. All of our new teachers undergo
training in technology.
We
have a computer lab with 36 computers for our students, and 36
computers in our paperless classroom.
The programs we currently have are: Word, FrontPage, PowerPoint,
Access, Excel, Publisher, Microsoft Works, Kid Pix, Print Shop,
Ultimate Writing, Internet Explorer, Accelerated Reader, Jump-Start
Typing, Type To Learn, and STAR Reading Compass Learning and
Learning expedition.
For the third year now,
Dell is in partnership with Flamingo to bring students the "Dell
TechKnow" program. This program teaches students most basic computer
knowledge within a 40 hour hands-on course. Students are required to
disassemble and re-assemble a computer, load and use software,
identify and correct basic hardware problems, and upgrade computer
hardware. Upon completion of the course students earn a refurbished
Dell desktop computer, compliments of Dell.
